Xiaomi 140W Desktop Charging Station Teardown

The front panel is fixed with double-sided tape. Inside, four anti-tamper screws are positioned at the corners.

After removing the screws and opening the inner cover plate, it is also secured with snap-fit clips.

Then, pull out the internal module.

The module measures 65.66 mm in length.

The width is 90.11 mm.

The thickness is 49.14 mm.

The bottom and front of the module are covered with metal heat sinks.

Under the front metal plate, copper foil is attached, and thermal pads are placed inside.

Copper foil is also applied to the side metal plate.

The bottom features a large heat sink, held in place by screws at the corners.

The USB fast charging module draws power from the AC socket module through red and black wires.

The module is then taken apart to allow for a more detailed look.

Thermal pads are placed on the inner side of the metal heat sinks to facilitate heat transfer and improve heat dissipation.

Overview of the AC socket module, featuring a one-piece copper strip inside.

The PCBA module consists of two boards soldered perpendicularly to each other. On the front side of the main board, blue thermal adhesive fills the area around capacitors, transformers, and other components. Thermal pads are placed on the PFC boost inductor and transformer, and the solid-state filter capacitors on the side are fitted with insulating sleeves.

Next, the two boards are separated, and the thermal adhesive and thermal pads are cleaned away.

The back side is populated with components including a bridge rectifier, PFC boost controller, PFC MOSFET, PFC rectifier diode, AHB controller, AHB MOSFET, synchronous rectification controller, synchronous rectifier MOSFET, optocoupler, and SMD Y-capacitors.

The common-mode choke is wound with bifilar wire to filter out EMI interference.

The X2 safety capacitor is supplied by Dongguan Chengxi Electronics and is rated at 0.47μF.

The WRLSB60M bridge rectifier, supplied by Shenzhen World Industrial Co., Ltd., is a soft recovery bridge that features a soft recovery curve and smooth turn-off characteristics. This design reduces the diode junction capacitance and minimizes harmonic oscillations. The LSB package provides excellent thermal performance, enhancing the reliability of medium to high-wattage adapters.

A PFC switching MOSFET from Infineon is used here, marked 60S180P7, with the full part number IPD60R180P7S. This CoolMOS P7 series device is rated at 650V with an on-resistance of 180mΩ and comes in a TO252-3 package.
